CHAPTER II : HOW IS ANATOMY ADAPTED TO TENDON SLIDING ?

Return to book page

How is anatomy adapted for tendon sliding ?

ANATOMICAL COROLLARY

We have seen that the MCDAS surrounds and is part of the sliding system and tendon. Nervetheless, this sliding system is supposed to evolve and it is noticeable that each time there is a change in the straight direction of the tendon, there is a physiological response and adaptation ot he new mechanical situation. What we call the sheat is one of the potential repsonses.

    What is the sheath ?

A sheath is in fact the way in which a tendon transmits strengh in any kind of anatomical situation. So adaptations will vary and this is why it is difficult for anatomists to define a classification.
